Gold price chart for 2017 shows that gold was gaining in the first four months of the year. The yearly low was formed on January 3 at $1162.00. The price of gold fluctuated for another four months. Then, it continued higher. The yearly high was formed on September 8 at $1351.20. Since then, gold was slightly declining. The final close of the year was $1309.30. Overall, gold gained $157.60 (13.68%) in 2017.
